Each season in CookieRun: OvenSmash lasts approximately one month. When a season wraps up, the system carries out an Oven Crown Reset — but don't worry, your points don't simply vanish! The reset mechanic is designed to rebalance the competition between players while giving newer players a real shot at climbing the leaderboard in the season ahead.

Oven Crowns Are Not Entirely Reset!
Here's the most important thing to know: only Cookies that have unlocked Season Oven Crown (2,000 points or above) are affected by the reset. If your Cookie hasn't hit that threshold yet, nothing changes for them!

💡Note: A Cookie sitting at exactly 2,000 points also counts as having unlocked Season Oven Crown and will be reset to 2,000 — which means the score stays exactly the same. No change, no loss!
What Changes After Each Season?
When the reset kicks in, three things happen simultaneously for every Cookie that has unlocked Season Oven Crown:

Practical Example: You have Cookie A sitting at 2,100 Oven Crowns. The Season Oven Crown portion is 100 points - the amount earned above the 2,000 threshold. After the reset:
- Cookie A: 2,100 → 2,000 Oven Crowns
- Cookie A's Season Oven Crown Road: 100 → 0
- Total Leaderboard Score: reduced by 100 Oven Crowns accordingly
One Leaderboard for All Players
Worth keeping in mind: when a new season kicks off, veteran players and new players compete on the same leaderboard - there's no separate board for newcomers. Everyone starts fresh and fights for the same spots!

👤 Veteran Players — Season Oven Crown already unlocked: Their score is reduced by the Season Oven Crown they accumulated, so they drop a certain number of ranks at the start of the new season. 🆕 New Players — no Season Oven Crown yet: No score reduction, so they may begin the new season at a relatively higher position compared to veterans who were reset. 👤 Veteran Players — Season Oven Crown already unlocked: Their score is reduced by the Season Oven Crown they accumulated, dropping them a number of ranks at the start of the new season. Time to climb back up! 🆕 New Players — no Season Oven Crown yet: No score reduction means they may kick off the new season at a relatively higher position compared to veterans who just got reset. A golden window of opportunity - make the most of it! |
The result: within just 1 to 2 active seasons, new players can fully compete at the same level as veterans on the leaderboard. This is exactly how the system keeps the competition fresh, healthy, and wide open, preventing any small group of players from permanently locking down the top ranks. Every season is a new race, and anyone can rise to the top!
How to Prepare for Each Season
For Veteran Players
- Push your Season Oven Crown as high as possible before the season ends - every point above 2,000 translates directly into season rewards!
- Expect a rank drop at the start of the new season - this is part of the intended design, not a bug. Embrace it and come back stronger!
- Hit the ground running from the very first days of the new season to reclaim your spot at the top!
For New Players
- A new season is the perfect time to jump in — the gap between you and veteran players has already been narrowed by the reset!
- With consistent play over just 1 to 2 seasons, you can reach the same competitive level as long-time players
- Focus on pushing as many Cookies to 2,000 points as possible to maximize your total Oven Crowns on the leaderboard!
